Good morning to Venerable Chao Khun Laow, all the respected Sangha members from United Kingdom, Norway,America, Singapore, Sweden, Netherlands, Thailand,Malaysia,Sri Lanka and Russia, brothers and sisters in dhamma, relatives, friends and all Waki Family members. Today is an auspicious day that we are honoured to be present at the enshrinement of the Buddha and his disciple’s relics in the Waki Relic Pagoda Ceremony and receive the blessing and chanting from the sangha members from various countries.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"\"<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Within 2,500 years, there have been more than hundred thousand stupas built in Burma for devotees to pay homage to the triple gems and enshrine the relics of the Buddha and his Disciples. Due to the long period of time, many pagodas and cetiya were destroyed by the natural disaster such as Earthquake, hurricanes and the poor maintenance. In order to propagate the buddha Sasana and enshrine the relics of the Buddha and his disciplines from generation to generation, Sayadaw U Kittivara followed the footstep of his two Masters, Venerable Sayadaw Suriya and Venerable Sayadaw Kondana in collecting and preserving the relics of the Buddha and His Disciples for more than hundred years. My heartfelt thanks that we had met the late Sayadaw U Kittivara, who was so trusting and supportive us during his lifetime. Therefore, we will carry out the Relic Missionary works continually and fulfill the wishes of the late Sayadaw on preserve and enshrine the Buddha and His Disciples’ relics for flourish and prolong the Buddhism into another 2,500 years. Today, representatives from different countries have gathered here to build and receive the relics of the Buddha and his disciples to enshrine in many different parts of the world, alike the ray of light that lights up the whole world and connect the global Buddhists in this new era salute to and recite the great virtues of the Buddha.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

In order to support and propagate the Buddha sasana, the King Ashoka had built 84,000 stupas and enshrined relics of the noble ones to distribute to all over Asia countries, and thus many people began to have faith in Buddhism and be able to follow the path of the Buddha until today.  In this globalization era, 84000 types of Buddhist propagation can  spread more rapidly all over the world than before for the benefit of all sentient beings. First of all,  I would like to thank all Waki members for the warm welcome. Today, the World Buddhist Dhammaduta Organisation (WBDO) would like to give all of you the blessing with the special Mahasayama sutta chanting for receiving the relics of Buddha and Buddha’s disciples for enshrining in the temple from different countries around the world. Today, the ceremony is one of the great opportunities for mankind to practise dana, sila and bhavana that is beneficial to all sentient beings. Although we are Buddhist bhikkhus from many different countries, we are working together for the same purpose and creating the same value of our work for the happiness of all sentient beings. WBDO has shared some different but many similar visions with Waki Relic Museum, be it as monastic practitioners or lay devotes, I am happy to call them as lay ministers of Buddhism. Have you been taught to become the lay ministers of Buddhism? Why do we call ourselves as lay ministers of Buddhism? This is because the teaching of Buddha is widely accepted and that helps to develop the inner peace and bring happiness to all mankind and the world. <\/p>\r\n\r\n

The monks, nuns and lay devotees from Wat Mahathat temples are working together for the benefits of all sentient beings. We have no ideas where do we come from but as we are born human beings, it is the best opportunity for us to do good deeds in this very life. It is very simple to practise good deeds by following the dhamma, which are abstaining from the evils, cultivating the good, and purifying our minds. Therefore, following the path of the Buddha and put the dhamma into practice to gain inner happiness and bring benefits for the mankind.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The mission of WBDO is to help bhikkhus to put the dharma into practice, propagate the Buddhism all around the world and teach the dhamma to the devotees according to the teaching of the Buddha. In addition, all human wish to be happy, free from all sufferings, free from hatred, free from hurtfulness, free from troubles of body and mind. These are part of our missions in WBDO as well. As lay ministers of Buddhism, the reason you are here because you have the very best  intention to follow such mission. May I suggest that all of you to consider becoming the lay minister of Buddhism? As lay ministers, you will learn the teaching of Buddha, practise the dhamma in our daily life, become a good teacher to ourselves and others by having good speech, good actions and intentions.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

All Venerables, Sangha, brothers and sisters in dhamma.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

First, I am very happy to be here with all of you. We all come from different places - Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Myanmar invited by the President of Waki Relic Musuem, Dr. Teo. It is very much appreciated that Dr. Teo makes the offering relic of the noble one to many sangha societies. This is a good example of the King Ashoka, who built 84,000 stupas and enshrined relics of the noble ones to distribute to all over the world, and he made many people to have faith in Buddhism. In the same way, we believe we have the opportunity to make devotees to have faith in Buddhism after receiving the relic pagoda and all can pay homage to the relic pagoda at their own places.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Other than that, a story of the Bodhisattva as told by the Buddha in the Dhammapada. That story was from Takasila city about sangkha Bhramana who was a bodhisattva and his son, Sucima. When his son had come of age, he sent his son to his friend in Varanasi city to learn the Astrology. His son was very smart and intelligent, he completed his studies within a few years. After his graduation, he asked his teacher, “What is the final goal of life?" The teacher told him a holy monk in the forest was able to answer his question. So, Sucima went to the monk and the monk told him to follow the sila, samathi and bhavana to reach the final goal in life. Finally, Sucima reached the final goal and became a pacceka buddha. He passed away within a few years after attaining the enlightenment. The villagers enshrined his relics in the stupa after the cremation.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

One day, the bodhisattva was thinking of his son, so he went to the city to find his son. Then he found out that his son had passed away and enshrined in the stupas. Later, the bodhisattva went over to clean the stupas, collect flowers and he used his upper clothes to make an umbrella to offer to the stupas and he paid respect to his son’s pagoda.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"\"<\/p>\r\n\r\n

When bodhisattva became a buddha, in the 3rd assembly , Buddha preached the dhamma in the Visali. In the walking journey of 60 miles, there were humans, devas, Nagas and brahmans coming to pay homage to the buddha. It was magnificent and full of fragrance of flowers. The Buddha told him that he was very much respected by the devas, brahma, Naga, humans and all beings because during his life as Sangha Brahma, he paid homage to his son’s pagoda who was a Pacceka Buddha.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Due to the good deed of paying homage to the pagoda, he was reapected by many realms from human to brahma when he became a buddha.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Due to the good deed of offering flowers to the pagoda, the flowers blossomed and grew to 2 feet tall in the trail where the Buddha walked by.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Due to the good deed of clearing the ground of the pagoda, the environment was full of  fragrances of flowers and there were drizzles to cool down the place.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Although in the bodhisattva's past life he just did that small dana to the pagoda, he gained thousand times of the good result due to such good deed in the past life. Now, we are doing what the bodhisattva did before, the bodhisattva shows us how to offer and pay homage to the relics of the noble one. Therefore, I hope you enjoy the good results of offering and paying homage to the relics of the noble one at this life and many after life. Lastly, I would like to say sadhu to Dr. Teo and all devotees to attend this ceremony so have chance to pay homage to the relics of the noble one.
