The speech of Sayadaw U Sandavara, the speaker of Parami Temple on the 100th days Memorial Service of the Late Most Respected King of Relic Sayadaw U Kittivara.<\/p>\n

(WAki International Media Center 17th November)  The 100th days Memorial Service of the Late Most Respected King of Relic Aggha Mahasaddhamajotikadaja Sayadaw U Kittivara, speeched by Sayadaw U Sandavara, the  speaker of Parami Temple .<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Today is the 100 days passing away of the late most repescted Venerable Sayadaw U Kittivara. Although the material phenomenon and a group of aggregate had decayed, the virtues of the late Sayadaw still remain with us. I would like to share with you the story of the late Sayadaw.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The late Venerable Sayadaw U Kittivara was born on Monday,the 14th of Thidingyut in 1309 Myanmar Era at Pauk Pin Thar Village, Mitthila Township, Mandalay region. His father U Nyan and mother Daw Hla Khin gave his name as Maung Khin Aung. At the age of four, his mother passed away and his father sent him to study under Venerable Mendaka at the Thayettaw Monastery in the village.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

When he was eight years old, his father took him to meet Venerable Suriya, the Abbott of Wuntawpyae monastery in Mitthila township. His father  ordained as a monk then, and they stayed together at the monastery. He became a novice when he was ten years old under Venerable Sayadaw Suriya, who was his uncle. He was named as Shin Kittivara. When he was twenty years old, he was ordained as a Buddhist monk under the preceptor Ven. Jagara- the abbot of Koethaungpyae monastery Thetaw Township- at the Sima hall of Wundawpyae monastery sponsored by U Phoe Ngwe and Daw Jun and their daughter, Daw Mya Nyunt on Saturaday 9th of Taboetwe in 1328 M.E. (8th February, 1967 )<\/p>\r\n\r\n

After becoming a monk, he went to Theintaung learning center in Taunggyi to further his study of Buddhist scripture under Venerable Chandadhika, Venerable Tejobhasa. After a period of time, he moved to Yangon for further studies under Venerable Sujana, the abbot of Pwesargyi monastery, Ven.Sagara and other well-known Venerable Sayadaws from Chaukhtatkyi and Shwegondaing learning centers.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"\"<\/p>\r\n\r\n

On  5th January, 1979 ( 1340 ME), Ven.Dhammasara, the high priest of Magginlannyun monastery from Parami Round about (3), South Okkalapa handed over his monastery to the late Sayadaw U Kittivara. The late Sayadaw U Kittivara later changed the name of the monastery into Theindaung Thaikthit temple. Since then, the late Sayadaw U Kittivara followed his uncle’s footstep, Venerable Suriya who collected the relics of the Buddha and Buddha’s disciples. The late Sayadaw U Kittivara went from place to place to collect the relics of the Buddha and his Disciples with the intention of preserving the relics and to enshrine in one place where everyone can pay homage to the relics. In 1987, the late Sayadaw established the Relic Musuem at his monastery for this purpose. The Relic Musuem become well-known not only to the locals but to foreigners to visit and pay homage to the Relics.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

In year 2020, the late Sayadaw received “Aggamaha Saddhamajaotika Raja” given by Myanmar government for his great contribution in Buddhist Missionaries work within these 31 years and established the Relic Musuem for buddhist devottees around the world to come to respect the Buddha and Arahants relics. On 28th July, 2021 Sayadaw passed away peacefully.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Today, we pay tribute to the late Sayadaw by offering foods, flowers, robes and water to the Sangha, as well as listening to the Dhamma and chanting. We would like to dedicate these merits to our late most respected Sayadaw U Kittivara.  Although Sayadaw had passed away, his excellent behavior, concentration and wisdom will remain in our heart. Honor and physical body are different. His human body would decay once he died. But we will always remember him for his honorable deeds.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

    I would like to thank to all the laymen and lay women who come from local and  foreign countries for joining the late Venebrale Sayadaw U Kittivara’s  100th days Memorial services.  Although Sayadaw had passed away  100th days ago, he still live in our heart.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

    According to Pali text, although every human body can be decayed, their names and virtues  still exist in this world. Although the physical body of Sayadaw had passed away, his name, virtues of act, wisdom and his Buddhist missionary work is still a legacy in the world.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

    At the special ceremony of the late Venerable Sayadaw,   I would like to share the following teaching of late Sayadaw U Kittivara,<\/p>\r\n\r\n

    1= I pay homage to the Buddha until the end of life<\/p>\r\n\r\n

    2= I pay homage to the Dhamma until the end of life<\/p>\r\n\r\n

    3= I pay homage to the Sanga until the end of life<\/p>\r\n\r\n

    With these noble words of truth, may you be free from all dangers. These words remind us of the importance of paying homage to the triple gems in our daily life. If we pay respect to the triple gems and practice the dhamma, we will gain a peaceful and successful life.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

    In addition, one of the important dhamma practice is sending loving-kindness to all beings. Loving kindness has been practiced by the late Sayadaw U Kittivara, who always carried his missionary works with loving kindness to all beings, just like a mother's love for her son.  The late Sayadaw U Kittivara always advice his disciples to practise the noble path and radiate loving kindness so they can be well, healthy and success in their life.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

        According to the Pali literature, although the physical body has decayed, the virtues remain in this world. The virtues, moralities, contribution, and wisdom of the late Venerable Sayadaw U Kittivara still remain in our heart and in this world. Sayadaw had contributed and carried out the Buddhist missionary in this very life, which had benefited and shared his great deeds to devas and humans. Besides, Sayadaw had founded the Relic Musuem to enshrine the Buddha and Buddha’s Disciples’s relics, which was indeed magnificent.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

        I pay homage to the relics of the Buddha which came in several sizes. The big-sized relics are of the size of a grain of bean, which have a golden color and a total collection of about five alhaka (a measurement of capacity for gains ) measurement; the medium size relics are of the size of a broken rice, look like pearls, and have a total collection of about five alhaka measures and the smallest are the size of  mustard seed, with the shape of the red jasmine buds and have the total collection of about six alhaka measurement.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

        All the Sayadaw’s lay disciples and Sangha groups are supporting and preserving the Relics and the Relic Musuem that founded by the late Sayadaw U Kittivara for the benefit of the Buddha Sasana.           WAKi Relic Musuem sharing with You , The King of Relic, Sayadaw U Kittivara 's Life Journey<\/p>\n

          (WAki International Media Center 18th of August)  Sayadaw U Kittivara was born on 13 October 1947 in Paukpinthar Village, Meikthila division, in central Myanmar. Master was ordained as a novice monk in Burma at the age of ten. He received his higher ordination as a Buddhist monk at the age of Twenty. In 1979, Sayadaw became the Abbott of Thein Taung Teik Thit Temple (Parami Temple), South Okkalapa, Myanmar. In 1984, Sayadaw opened the Relic Musuem at his monastery. In year 2019, Sayadaw U Kittivara opened International Relic Center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Sayadaw u Kittivara had passed away at July 28, 2021. He was 74.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

          According to the Commentary on the Anguttara Nikaya of the Sutta Pitaka, there were two merchants, named Tapussa and Bhallika offered the alms-food to the Lord Buddha in Bodh Gaya, the Buddha passed his eight hair-relics to the brothers. Then the brothers put the relic- hairs in a gold casket and returned to Burma to be enshrined in the stupas. Within 2,600 years, there have been more than hundred thousand stupas built in Burma for devotees to pay homage to the triple gems and enshrined the relics of the Buddha and his Disciples.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

          Due to the long period of time, many stupas and Cetiya were destroyed by the natural disaster such as Earthquake, Hurricanes and the poor maintenance. During the King Mindon dynasty period, there was a monk called Venerable Visuddhacara at Wetlet Township, Shwebo District, who was interested in collecting and paying homage to the Relic.           In those 60 years, Sayadaw U Kittivara had been travelling around the country, collecting, preserving and re-enshrining the relics of Lord Buddha and Arahants. He also searched and collected the relics that no one worship from villages or mountains on foot or by oxcart. Once, Sayadaw travelled to an old stupa named Moggalana cetiya at the hills of the Northern of Myingyan Township, Mandalay Region, which enshrined the relics of Venerable Moggalana. The relics of Monggalana was brown and the relics were excavated at the place.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

          After few years, Sayadaw opened the Relics Musuem at his monastery with the intention to keep the Relics in one place to enable Buddhist devotees to pay homage to the Buddha’s relics and Buddha’s disciples relics. Since then, the monastery is well-known locally as well as overseas. There were many senior monks and Buddhist devotees from different countries come to visit and pay homage to the Relics.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

          Furthermore, many different types of the Buddha relics and His Disciples were found from the collapsed stupas which were then sent to Sayadaw. The Buddha hair-relics, Buddha’s brain relics and the relics of Buddha Disciples were excavated from the collapsed stupas, which had been enshrined in the Museum. <\/p>\r\n\r\n

          In order to give more devotees who are unable to pay respect Relics at his temple, He had donated and distributed the relics to many countries including Thailand ,Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, China and Malaysia for enshrinement. In year 2020, Sayadaw U Kittivara had generously presented  of the buddha relics and Arahants relics to be enshrined in Waki Relic Musuem, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  Meanwhile, he appointed Waki Relic Musuem as the International Relics Center to continue carrying on to enshrine the Relics of Buddha and his Disciples to prolong the Buddha Sasana. International Relics Center will build 1,000 Waki relic stupas as gifts to be enshrined, for the temples all around the world and to connect as global Buddhists in this new era.
